SWAN YOGA

finding balance & harmony
in everyday life

I feel privileged to teach and share the benefits of yoga, which promotes balance and harmony in everyday life. Yoga is holistic, supporting the whole of our being- body, mind and spirit – and promotes health and wellbeing in a balanced and harmonious way.  I live in Twyford, Berkshire, and teach yoga in the surrounding area, in gyms, healthclubs and in a corporate setting, as well as teaching individuals in the comfort of their own homes.  I am happy to provide cover for other  yoga teachers in a variety of settings, including at an independent mental health hospital in Berkshire.

I am also a qualified Yoga Therapist registered with the CNHC, the UK regulator  for complementary healthcare practitioners.  Yoga therapy is the use of yoga to help individuals with specific health needs improve their overall wellbeing.  No prior experience of yoga is needed to benefit.  Yoga therapy is holistic, treating you as the whole person you already are, approaching your body and mind as a complex whole rather than looking at individual symptoms.

Each person is individual and different, reflected in our own health and what we may need to bring us to wellbeing, balance and harmony. Our lives are in our bodies and minds and we carry not just our physical experiences, but the mental, emotional and spiritual impact of all aspects of our lives around with us every day.  Our beliefs and values influence how we think, react and behave and, during our life, we develop our own physical and mental habits and patterns, which impact us in different ways.  These may serve us well or create ongoing problems. Deepening our self-awareness can help us uncover these patterns and, if we feel they are unhelpful, we can then seek to make changes, giving us more choice in how we live our life.

Yoga therapy offers a practical and balanced way to help manage our health and wellbeing, because yoga encourages awareness of both the body and the mind, promoting calm and relaxation, as well as helping us feel more connected to our inner being. Yoga therapy can help us at any point in our lives, but it can be particularly helpful when our lives are frantic, we’re feeling stressed, have health issues or are recovering from ill health. Yoga therapy may help manage a wide range of health issues and, as it seeks to address patterns of thinking, it may also help with the management of stress, anxiety and depression.

Yoga therapy can offer a healthier way of life.  All you need is the desire to help yourself, together with a willingness to incorporate some yoga practices into your everyday life.  All yoga therapy is conducted in a caring and confidential way to suit your individual needs.
