North Area Professional Development Day
Talking Shop and Ideas Swop – a CPD Day with a difference!
Saturday 7th March 2020 10:00 to 16:00
At Aston Parish Hall, Aston, Sheffield S26 2DB
(1 mile from Junction 31 on the M1)
This is a subsidised day and members will pay £20 in advance. Non-members who wish to come must join FRYOG (on the website) and pay £20 subscription, (no other fee payable)
Talking Shop/Ideas Swop – a CPD Day with a difference.
The day allows lots of opportunities to share and swap ideas and all things Yogic and learn something new.
Also included will be two taught sessions and a guided meditation and relaxation session.
Tutors:
We are very fortunate to have the distinguished Yoga researcher and FRYOG Elder John Gent teach the topic “Yoga for Eternal Youth”.
Our other guest teacher is Katie Dickinson who will introduce us to and lead a session of Kunda Dance.
Helen Sutcliffe will present a guided meditation and relaxation to complete the day.
Programme for the Day
10:00 – 10:05 Housekeeping and introduction.
10:05 – 11:20 Kunda Dance with Katie.
11:20 – 11:30 Short break.
11:30 – 12:30 “Yoga for Eternal Youth” with John Gent.
12:30 – 13:00 Yoga Carousel, exchange of ideas and ‘This Works’.
13:00 – 14:00 Lunch ‘Munch and Mingle’.
14:00 – 15:00 Talking Shop follow up on Yoga Carousel.
15:00 – 15:30 Guided Meditation and Relaxation with Helen
15:30 – 16:00 Plenary and close.
Please note: To make the most of the day all participants need to come armed with at least 2 ideas to share.
A few suggestions are:
- Successful sequences, Readings/Poetry, Meditations, Pranayamas,
- Books to recommend, Useful Asanas or variations,
- Useful Music, Mudras or Mantras, Themes you’ve used,
- Ways of explaining a yogic topic you’ve used,
- Relaxation techniques or scripts, a website or bookseller you’d recommend,
- Expertise you have to share in teaching particular groups/ particular needs.
The list is endless, be creative.
